The Da Vinci Hall of the library of the North Caucasus Federal University hosted a traditional event dedicated to the Day of Slavic Writing and Culture, bringing together students, schoolchildren and fans of Russian literature.
The linguistic quiz became the central intellectual stage of the program. Its participants were students of philology and historians, as well as graduates of the Sirius Educational Center. The questions required serious erudition and an interdisciplinary view of linguistics from the players.

The practical part of the event was a master class in calligraphy. Under the guidance of Maria Barabash, a graduate professional calligrapher, philologist and designer, the participants mastered the traditional techniques of ancient ink–on–birch bark writing, which made the connection of the times almost tangible.
Also, as part of the Day of Slavic Writing and Culture, diplomas were awarded to the excellent students of Total Dictation and the winners of the 45th Parallel school Olympiad in the Russian language.
– The Day of Slavic Writing reminds us of the importance of preserving our language and written tradition – without this, cultural continuity is impossible. It is especially important to convey these thoughts to young people: it is they who will have to protect our linguistic heritage in the future. The program of today's event has become a bridge between epochs: from birch bark letters and ancient languages to modern literacy tests like Olympiads and Total Dictation," said Victoria Sichinava, Associate professor of the Russian Language Department at the Humanities Institute, ambassador and permanent coordinator of the Total Dictation site in Stavropol, Candidate of Philology.
