For the preparation of bachelor's and master's degrees, and conducting elective physical education courses with students of the university's fields/specialties, the faculty has: a modern swimming pool; game rooms; gyms; fitness rooms; gymnastic and choreographic halls; martial arts hall; therapeutic physical education halls; outdoor sports grounds; educational and specialized classrooms for therapeutic physical education and massage.
History of the Faculty
By Order No. 153 of the Stavropol State Pedagogical and Teachers' Institute dated August 15, 1947, the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports was established. By the same order, Colonel A.G. Neverov was appointed the first dean of the faculty .
In 1948, the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports was renamed the Faculty of Physical Education.
1964 – the department of correspondence education was opened at the Faculty of Physical Education.
1989 – the Faculty of Physical Education was renamed the Faculty of Physical Education.
2012 – the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports became a structural unit of the Pedagogical Institute of the North Caucasus Federal University.
2013 The Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports is a structural unit of the Institute of Education and Social Sciences of the North Caucasus Federal University.
2015 – as a result of the reorganization of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports, the Department of Theory and Methodology of Physical Culture and Sports of the Institute of Education and Social Sciences of the North Caucasus Federal University was established.
2017 – as a result of the reorganization of the Department of Physical Education, the Department of Physical Education for Humanities and Natural Sciences and the Department of Physical Education for technical specialties were established.
2017 – The Faculty of Physical Culture was established as part of the Institute of Education and Social Sciences of the North Caucasus Federal University.
2021 – the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports was established.

Scientific activity
The faculty has a scientific school "Physical culture and sports in the space of pedagogical anthropology". A distinctive feature of the research activity within the scientific school, which is conducted by many well-known scientists, is the effective development of problems and areas related to the theoretical and methodological support of professional and general continuing education in the field of physical culture, mass sports and high-performance sports.
The faculty has a research laboratory for cognitive problems of esports (jointly with the Kuban University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism).
Since 2004, the Faculty has been hosting the annual International Scientific and Practical Conference "Physical Culture and Sport: Integration of Science and Practice" (in correspondence). The conference materials are posted on the website of the Scientific Electronic Library eLibrary with indexing in the scientometric database of the RSCI.
In 2015, the faculty hosted the All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference "Physical Education and Sports in Higher Education institutions: current trends and practices." The conference was attended by renowned Russian scientists and practitioners. Since 2024, the faculty has been hosting the Interregional Student Scientific and Practical Conference "Physical Culture and Sports: a scientific perspective of student youth".
In 2024, the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports held the All-Russian Scientific and Educational Forum "Live in Motion", which brought together athletes, scientists, teachers, students, coaches and fitness instructors from 16 regions and more than 30 cities of Russia.
In 2025, the Faculty hosted the II International Scientific Congress "Terms and Concepts in the field of physical culture", which was attended by leading scientists from Russia and abroad.
Traditionally, faculty teachers and students actively participate in the NCFU annual scientific and practical conference "University Science for the Region", section "Integration of sports science, education and culture", subsection 1 "Physical education, sports training", subsection 2 "Physical culture and sports through the eyes of students of the third millennium".
The faculty trains Honored Masters of Sports, International-class Masters of Sports, Masters of Sports and Candidates for Masters of Sports in various sports: athletics, basketball, rhythmic gymnastics, karate, taekwondo, power triathlon, swimming, hand-to-hand combat, boxing, kickboxing, football, handball, freestyle wrestling, judo, sports orientation, etc. Students of the faculty annually take part in Russian Championships and Championships, international competitions in various sports and become winners and prize-winners.
