An exhibition of photographs of cosmonaut Oleg Ivanovich Skripochka, Hero of the Russian Federation, dedicated to the 65th anniversary of Cosmonautics Day was opened in the lobby of the first building at the North Caucasus Federal University.
The exhibition is dedicated to Cosmonautics Day. The year 2026 marks a significant date – the 65th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's first flight into space, which forever changed the course of history.
– Over these decades, cosmonautics has gone from the first orbit around the Earth to the operation of international orbital stations and ambitious plans for the exploration of the Moon and Mars. The anniversary celebration highlights the importance of the 1961 triumph and inspires new generations of researchers to new achievements in the universe," said Arthur Zakinyan, Doctor of Physico–Mathematical Sciences, Head of the Department of Theoretical and Mathematical Physics at the NCFU Faculty of Physics and Technology.
The exhibition featured the works of cosmonaut Oleg Ivanovich Skripochka, a resident of Stavropol, who was born in Nevinnomyssk. During his flying career, he made 3 space flights as a flight engineer and commander of the ship, and spent a total of 536 days, 3 hours, 49 minutes in space. He also went into outer space three times.
The photo exhibition features photos taken by the cosmonaut. These are spaceships, views of the Earth, working moments of expeditions, spacewalks, New Year celebrations and cosmonauts' vacations. There are also bird's-eye photos of familiar cities: the streets of Moscow, Krasnodar, Rostov-on-Don and Nevinnomyssk.
