The North Caucasus Federal University told about the history of book culture of the Stavropol province at the site of the Oxygen book Festival.

An open lecture "Book Culture of the Stavropol province" was held in Stavropol as part of the Oxygen Book Festival. It was read by Roman Nutrikhin, Candidate of Law, Associate Professor of the Department of Environmental, Land and Labor Law at the NCFU Law Institute.

The lecture was held in the conference hall of the Stavropol Regional Universal Scientific Library named after M.Y. Lermontov and gathered listeners interested in the history of the book business and the cultural heritage of the region.

The expert spoke about Stavropol residents' passion for reading and collecting rare publications. Special attention was paid to the book collection of Georgy Konstantinovich Pravo, a pre–revolutionary Stavropol notary and the founder of museum business in the provincial city. The lecture participants learned about rare book monuments of the XVIII–XIX centuries from his collection, which were previously available to visitors of the museum he created, and today are in the collections of the Stavropol Regional Universal Scientific Library named after M.Y. Lermontov.

Separately, the lecturer focused on pre-revolutionary editions of legal literature stored in the rare books department of the library. Among them are the complete editions of the Complete Collection of Laws of the Russian Empire, the Code of Laws of the Russian Empire, and other valuable sources that are still important for researchers of the history of law.

The audience also got acquainted with the stories of book collections of Stavropol governors and officials. Of particular interest was the story about the library of the last Serene Prince Menshikov, bequeathed to the Cadet School in Stavropol, but never entered the city.

Being a collector of antique books, Roman Nutrikhin shared his experience of forming his own library and spoke about other well-known bibliophile collections in Stavropol.
