Dmitry Bespalov (Rector, NCFU) had a meeting with Abbas Al Halabi (Minister of Education, Lebanon) in Beirut, Lebanon, where they discussed possible opening of a resource center for the Russian Language.

– The promotion of the Russian language abroad is one of our university’s priority missions, and we pay special attention to this activity. A poll held among Lebanese students showed interest in learning Russian taken by the youth of the Middle East – 945 students who joined the poll were willing to start respective classes. This means that the project has great potential to grow, and here we see the next stage as launching a resource center in Lebanon. The NCFU is ready to offer methodological support and relevant literature to students, – Dmitry Bespalov was quoted as saying.

Abbas Al Halabi, in turn, noted the importance of the cooperation between Russia and Lebanon, as well as expressed support to the projects proposed by Dmitry Bespalov.

As part of cooperation with Lebanon, NCFU is currently teaching Russian to about 700 Lebanese online. This project has special support, such as digital resources and special guides in Arabic. All those who complete the training successfully will be awarded a respective certificate.
