The NorthCaucasus Federal University, the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia and International Scientific-Educational Center of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia have entered an agreement aiming at establishing an International Research & Training Laboratory Center for Trans-Caucasian Studies.

A significant advantage to the effort is a grant from the Russian Foundation for Basic Research awarded to the research team including experts from the Department for Foreign History, Political Studies and International Relations (NCFU) and their colleagues from the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, to focus on studying the Armenian Issue in International Relations.

– This agreement is a natural effect of the long cooperation between our University and the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia. In the Center, researchers from NCFU, the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia and the International Scientific-Educational Center of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia plan to carry out projects investigating the history of Armenia, Russia, as well as that of the peoples of Transcaucasia, Russian-Armenian relations, and the Russian policy within the region, - Dmitry Bespalov (NCFU, Rector) noted.
