NCFU Students Study International Migration Trends During Pandemic

08.04.21 9:29

Category: Main News International Activity

The North-Caucasus Federal University hosted an online lecture delivered by Prof. Paul Fryer (University of Eastern Finland/UEF), which focused on the most urgent socio-economic issues – global migration during the pandemic and the migration policy pursued in the EU.

The audience included students and teachers of the Institute of Earth Sciences, who always take huge interest in what is going on in the EU and what mechanisms Finland in particular employs to cope with a large influx of migrants from the Middle East and Africa.

– We are proud of it, and consider it a really important point that our students can meet experienced European professors. Besides, some of them have the opportunity to undergo their field placement abroad since one of the most important features of the research and academic activities here is academic mobility for both our students and teachers, - Vitaly Belozerov (Acting Director, Institute of Earth Sciences, NCFU) was quoted as saying.

Moreover, the NCFU and the UEF are planning to expand their cooperation through launching a joint International Research Laboratory for Monitoring Demographic Processes, as well as the two partner-institutions are to submit an application seeking support and permission to hold a Summer school for their respective students in 2022-2023.
