The North-Caucasus Federal University goes on enhancing cooperation with academic and research institutions of Abkhazia as the partners join their efforts to promote newer projects and arrange events involving the respective communities from the two countries.
This cooperation has advanced a lot in the latest six months, which is largely due to NCFU’s active policy aimed at boosting international connections. And the results are already to be seen – a Laboratory for Biographic Research has been established with the Academy of Science of Abkhazia, as well as a new Master’s degree program is about to be launched jointly with the Abkhazian State University. Another important highlight is that December last year an agreement was signed to establish the Great Caucasus Consortium, which embraces, together with NCFU and universities of Armenia and South Ossetia, the Abkhazian State University, too. The partners will lock arms to facilitate the Russian language studies.
A perfect example of the cooperation ca be seen from the conference started on March 2, which focuses on the historical studies of the Soviet Power development in Abkhazia. While speaking at the opening, Aslan Bzhania (President, Abkhazia) noted:
– Our joint duty is to protect the historical truth, as well as to offer all historical events an unbiassed and comprehensive estimation. This is the true basis for good neighborship and mutual respect.
Dmitry Bespalov (Rector, NCFU), in turn, noted:
– This conference is international, which adds value to the issues in focus as well as to our shared history. The event itself has become a result of our long and fruitful cooperation, which promotes our countries’ progress in education, research and culture.
