Young Geographers from All Russia Come to NCFU
The North-Caucasus Federal University has launched the final stage of the Russian National Olympiad in Geography for schoolers with 260 most talented and knowledgeable kids coming to lock from 75 areas of Russia.
The main purpose of the contest is to promote Geography-related knowledge as well as interest in research activities.
The decision to trust the NCFU hosting such large-scale event is not due to nothing – the University has accumulated rich experience in such activities in more than a few subjects.
– This Olympiad is opening new horizons as well as offers a chance to reveal knowledge, which can be further employed to investigate the remotest parts of Russia, – Dmitry Bespalov (Rector, NCFU) was quoted as saying.
The participants’ performance will be evaluated by the top experts in the respective area – both from the NCFU and other institutions. Besides, the participants are to be have field placement – a tour that is aimed at assessing their practical skills, and the final award ceremony is to be held on March 30, 2002.
