NCFU hosts the III International Congress on Psychophysiology and Psychoneuroendocrinology

The North Caucasus Federal University has become a venue for a large-scale international scientific forum – the III International Congress on Psychophysiology and Psychoneuroendocrinology opened here, which brought together leading experts in the field of medicine and fundamental biology.

The uniqueness of the event lies in an interdisciplinary approach to the study of the relationship between mental states and endocrine factors. More than 300 specialists from universities and research institutes from 42 cities of Russia and abroad are taking part in the congress.

The scientific program of the congress started with plenary lectures from the country's leading experts. Professor Peter Shabanov, MD, Head of the Department of Neuropharmacology at the Institute of Experimental Medicine of the Military Medical Academy (St. Petersburg), presented a report on the mechanisms of non-chemical addictions. Professor Alexander Shpakov, Deputy Director of the I.M. Sechenov Institute of Evolutionary Physiology and Biochemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Saint Petersburg), Doctor of Biological Sciences, gave a lecture on the overthrow of existing signal transduction paradigms. A lecture on psychophysiological approaches in the educational field by Professor Alexander Chernorizov, Head of the Department of Psychophysiology at the Lomonosov Moscow State University Faculty of Psychology, member of the International Organization of Psychophysiologists (I.O.P.), Doctor of Psychology, aroused great interest.

For three days, the congress participants will discuss topical issues of psychophysiology and psychoneuroendocrinology, present research results and establish scientific contacts.

The congress is organized by NCFU together with leading Russian scientific centers, including the Institute of Evolutionary Physiology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow State University and St. Petersburg State University. The event will continue its work until May 27.
