A training seminar for curators of academic groups was held at the North Caucasus Federal University. It was devoted to current forms of preventive measures to counter the ideology of terrorism and neo-Nazism, as well as the prevention of extremism among young people.

The key speakers of the event were experts on the formation of active citizenship among young people, the prevention of interethnic and interfaith conflicts, countering the ideology of terrorism and preventing extremism at NCFU – Anna Bagdasarova, PhD, Associate Professor, Director of the center, and Natalia Mulikova, PhD, Associate Professor, head of the center's educational and methodological department.

– It was not by chance that we identified this meeting at the beginning of the school year: our goal is to provide the curators with the necessary methodological materials, theory and practice so that they can carry out preventive work with the children right now, and then update this knowledge as new materials become available, – said Anna Bagdasarova.

According to the organizers, the seminar is only the first stage of a lot of work. There are plans to hold another meeting at the beginning of the next semester, and in between to organize thematic events on the most pressing issues of countering the ideology of terrorism and extremism, the formation of an all–Russian civic identity and the strengthening of traditional Russian spiritual and moral values.

The seminar participants were introduced to modern formats of working with students. They were developed by the specialized vector centers of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and specialists of the National Antiterrorist Committee. The curators were also told in detail where and how to quickly find the necessary materials for the preparation of events, from methodological recommendations to information cards and videos.

An important result of the Coordination Center's work was methodological recommendations for the curators of NCFU academic groups on conducting preventive measures with students. They will be publicly available in the near future. The document contains the basic principles and a step-by-step algorithm for preparing events, a description of recommended formats, an analysis of typical errors, as well as a list of references, information resources and websites where you can track the appearance of new materials.

– Our main common task is to help the curators of academic groups to carry out preventive measures using modern, effective and relevant formats of interaction with young people. We don't just provide tools, we build a system where the curator always knows where to find the right materials, how to avoid typical mistakes and how to adapt approaches to his group," Anna Bagdasarova summed up.

The Coordination Center intends to keep in constant contact with the curators: to regularly introduce them to new materials, help in organizing events and participate in their conduct. This format of cooperation, the center is confident, will make preventive work systematic, effective and truly useful for the entire university environment.
