A mother and child room, as well as a short-stay group for children, have been opened at the North Caucasus Federal University. The project is designed for children of students, postgraduates and young teachers. The opening took place within the framework of the federal project "Help mom learn" of the national project "Family".

The mother and child room, together with a group of short-term children, was opened at NCFU, Stavropol, Kulakova Avenue, 2. The purpose of the federal project "Help Mom learn" of the national project "Family" is to create infrastructure for students and young families with children in educational institutions and support student families. According to Olga Petrova, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the number of such spaces in universities is planned to increase to a thousand by 2030.

– We always say that the university is a big family. In total, 46 student families study at the university, 11 children are brought up in them. In total, more than 400 students are parents. By opening this mother and child room, we are supporting young families in their difficult but very important decision to combine study and parenting. Here, in these cozy walls, kids will be safe and under the supervision of specialists, they will play and develop while their parents are busy studying. The project became possible thanks to the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation within the framework of the program "Help Mom to study," said Acting Rector of NCFU Professor Tatiana Shebzukhova.

The opening ceremony was attended by Maria Smagina, Minister of Education of the Stavropol Territory, and Elena Mamontova, Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Stavropol Territory. The premises were located on the first floor of the student dormitory No. 8, which included 5 spaces at once: the mother and child room itself, a game room, a hygiene area, a relaxation room and a wheelchair. NCFU has tried to create comfortable conditions for young parents and their children, who will be able to play and develop under the supervision of experienced educators.

70-80 children will attend the short-stay group every month, for whom all the necessary equipment, toys and educational materials have been purchased. No more than 6 people can stay in the group at the same time, and the average stay time for a child will be 4 hours. Several mothers can visit the mother and child's room at the same time.

At the opening, workshops on gingerbread decorating, art therapy in the form of sand painting and clay modeling were held for children, and an aquagrim was made for those who wished.

The choice of dormitory No. 8 is also not accidental. There are buildings on the North campus where a large number of students with children study. In total, about 700 married students are currently studying at NCFU. There is also a children's playground and a NCFU personalized medicine clinic next to the hostel.
