NCFU named the reasons for the outflow of young people from rural areas

Category: Main

The outflow of young people from rural areas is largely due to the fact that schoolchildren do not understand who they want to work for and enter universities without a clear professional goal. An expert from the North Caucasus Federal University explained why this is happening.

According to Oksana Mukhoryanova, PhD in Economics, Associate Professor of the NCFU Department of State, Municipal Management and Labor Economics, uncertainty about the choice of profession leads graduates to take up budget positions and then leave to work in other fields. This means that government funds are being spent with no real impact on the industry.

The economist calls agroclasses one of the tools for solving the problem – a format in which schoolchildren get the opportunity to try out a profession in real production, rather than being limited to career guidance testing.

– Agroclasses are an early career guidance, an early introduction to the profession. It is not always possible for a child to get a taste of a working profession within the framework of a regular school. Here, children can practice and participate in the work of a real enterprise – this is an emotional component that will delay and allow the child to stay," the economist shared.

However, the expert noted that agroclasses alone do not solve the problem. We need a well-established system that consistently connects schools, colleges, and specific businesses. Only in this case, a young specialist comes to production already prepared, and does not spend years adapting.
