Universities Discuss Future of Higher Education
During the Russian Creative Week held in Moscow, representatives of various universities seeking to join the Priority-2030 program, had a meeting to discuss the potential modification of the Russian higher education in the times of creative technologies. NCFU joined the meeting, too, Nikita Avralev being the representative.
One of the speakers, Anatoly Nikolaev (Rector, North-Eastern Federal University), said that in view of all the changes related to the current challenges and the progress of universities, the very system of higher education will remain constant.
– Any, even the most creative solution in university progress relies on the basis that has been shaped earlier, – Mr. Nikolaev claimed. – Higher education in Russia is a well-developed solid system with its own fundamental basics. In a house, you can change the windows or the roof, yet under one condition – it all must rely on a solid fundament. The same goes for universities – creative progresses are good but it all will take a solid basis – proper training term, basic training departments with a traditional set of competencies. I believe that even in case of intense transformation of certain aspects, we will still remain a classic system of higher education that is well recognized internationally.
Nikita Avralev, in turn, noted that the NCFU places a major emphasis on the University-Employer link.
– In the best version we are to get a type of higher education that would meet completely the demand put forth by the labor market; we are to offer, then, degree programs, that would stir interest among potential applicants as potential for individual career path, – Mr. Avralev was quoted as saying. – And then we will have a unique product – a guaranteed way to the labor market on the one hand and, on the other – a full match to the employer’s needs.
