Pyatigorsk hosted the opening of the international school "The roots of friendship of our peoples-in our history", implemented by the Association of University Students of the North Caucasus with the support of the North Caucasus Federal University and the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H. M. Berbekov.

The forum is aimed at popularization and promotion of the Russian language as a means of intercultural communication and a translator of cultural values through the implementation of a complex of popular science and educational events. The participants of the school were students and experts from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Abkhazia, South Ossetia, as well as subjects that are part of the North Caucasus Federal District.

The Vice-Rector for Youth Policy of NCFU Azamat Lyuyev greeted the guests before the event. He wished all participants bright meetings and productive ideas and noted that the North Caucasus Federal University is one of the centers of the North Caucasus Federal District for the formation of Russian civic identity, patriotism and interfaith communication, and Russian language is certainly a connecting link in these issues.

During three days, the participants talked about the aspects of language conflicts in the context of socio-cultural globalization, analyzed the current matrices of world literature, discussed international cooperation in the field of education, and also paid special attention to the Russian language in a multilingual and multicultural space. In addition, the organizers took care of the cultural and leisure program. So, all the participants and moderators of the forum went on excursions to the cities of Russian literary glory – Pyatigorsk and Kislovodsk, walked around the Lermontov places and enjoyed the beauty of Arkhyz.

– For four days, together with experts, we were working on the formation of new practices and competencies for the implementation of network projects, and also discussed the conditions for international cooperation, – said Naida Musayeva, a participant of the school, a student of Dagestan State University, – I think that such meetings are not only a chance to gain new knowledge, but also an opportunity to share your own experience with participants, as well as meet unique people.
