The Literary Breakfast series of meetings with students continues at the North Caucasus Federal University. On October 21, 2026, NCFU students discussed the novel in the stories "Sandro from Chegem" by Fazil Iskander.

The Literary Breakfast project is aimed at popularizing reading and immersing young people in the space of fiction. October's book was the novel "Sandro from Chegem" by Fazil Iskander, a series of short stories about Abkhazia, the Abkhazians, time and epoch.

— This book is a revived Abkhazia. Multifaceted, colorful, with a unique taste, smell, and color of the era. That's why we chose "Sandro from Chegem" for the discussion – to immerse the participants of our project in the magical atmosphere of another time. And it was especially pleasant to receive warm feedback from students who had just become acquainted with this amazing work," said Olga Ganzhara, Candidate of Philology, Associate Professor at the Department of Linguistics at the NCFU Faculty of International Relations.

The novel itself consists of 32 short stories, which are not united by a common plot, but tell about the fate of the main character, his relatives and residents of the village of Chegem. This is not just a collection of short stories, but an epic about people, traditions, humor and deep folk wisdom that is close and understandable to everyone. The experts of the meeting were traditionally Lyudmila Bronskaya, Professor of the Department of Russian and World Literature at the Humanitarian Institute, and Evgeny Oborsky, Associate Professor of the Department of Russian History.

The participants of the Literary Breakfast discussed the key themes of the novel, noting the special atmosphere of the work and its connection with the culture of the North Caucasus, and also shared their own impressions of what they had read.
