NCFU has held GreenCult – the first school teaching environment friendly life activities. The academic project brought together all students who can not remain indifferent to environmental issues, with lectures and master-classes delivered to them by environmental activists running various projects in the Region.
The GreenCult school was held as initiated by Elizaveta Migunova – a first-year student majoring in Law, while NCFU offered a grant support, which helped attract 30 students.
Students did not just learn some theory yet also tried their hands in various practical tasks as well as had meetings with experts – one of such meetings, which never left anyone unimpressed was a meeting with Pavel Bogdanov – a public environmental inspector, who told youngsters how they can contribute to solving respective issues. Further on, the participants could test their newly acquired knowledge through specially designed tests.
– We developed various concepts, such as Zero Waste, for instance – Elizaveta Migunova was quoted as saying. – This is a concept aimed at reducing the amount of waste we produce through using returnable things, and we also discussed the five R’s rule – Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Rot, Recycle. What we tried to do was explaining to students that each of them while sticking to certain habits, can make our Planet cleaner, as well as human life better. Besides, we have got a lot of positive feedback from the participants, and some of them even want to join the team of organizers of similar events in the future.
