Nov 14-18, 2022, Kinshasa (Congo) hosted medical refresher training delivered by Russian experts, including practicing doctors and NCFU specialists.
This visit was the Russian delegation’s first experience of international cooperation between the two countries in the area of medicine, whereas the purpose of the training was to enhance African medical employees’ competency in the most relevant areas of clinical medicine.

The five days of the training included lectures and seminars covering a broad range of fields – from Traumatology to Inpatient First Aid, after which the participants were awarded their well-deserved certificates.
– We tried to offer the trainees not the basics for clinical research only yet also introduced them to the advanced methods for diagnosing and treatment, – Sergey Kubanov (Head of Medical Center, NCFU) was quoted as saying.

Apart from the training itself, a meeting was held between Aleksey Sentebov (Ambassador of Russian Federation in Congo) and Prof. Oscar Nsaman-O-Lutu (Rector, CEPROMAD University), with further cooperation discussed.
The interaction was not purely medical, though – the Russian delegation learned a lot about the culture and life in Congo, whereas the course attendees could see practical issues of international cooperation.
The project is part of the Foreign Political Activities national program supported by the Russian Cooperation Agency, the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the Russian Federation, and is a further step within the Cooperation Agreement signed by the two countries at the Russia-Africa Summit in 2019.
