On March 31, at an extraordinary expanded meeting of the Academic Council of the North Caucasus Federal University, a key procedural event took place - the official presentation of Professor Tatiana Shebzukhova, appointed on March 24, 2026 by the Russian Government to the post of rector of the university.
Dmitry Afanasyev, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, described Tatiana Alexandrovka as a responsible and professional manager, and stressed that the work of the team together with the new leadership will be aimed at solving state tasks in the field of science and education.
"We consider federal universities as a supporting framework of macro-regions. And in this area, the North Caucasus Federal University has a special role, a special status to be an educational and scientific outpost in the south of Russia, in the North Caucasus. An important vector of the university's development will be ensuring the country's technological leadership — responding to the technological challenge, the demand for new materials, and other new engineering products and services. There is a huge need for a new generation of specialists with the competencies that this technological leadership provides," said Dmitry Vladimirovich.
The Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation also focused on changing the higher education system. He stressed that the university will have to restructure its educational policy, its educational approaches and technologies.
"I would like to thank the Government of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation for their trust. The North Caucasus Federal University has a large and highly professional team capable of solving all the tasks facing the university. I will make every effort to develop the university and strengthen its scientific and educational potential," said NCFU Rector Professor Tatiana Shebzukhova.

Professor Tatiana Shebzukhova was officially appointed Rector of NCFU on March 24, 2026 by Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 597-R. Her professional activity was connected with the university: she worked her way up from a methodologist to dean (since 1999) and director of the Pyatigorsk Institute (branch) North Caucasus Federal University (since 2012). She carried out scientific and pedagogical activities, consistently holding the following positions: assistant, senior lecturer, associate professor, professor. Since 2022, he has been a member of the Presidium of the Higher Attestation Commission under the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
Doctor of Historical Sciences (2002), Professor (2006), Honorary Worker of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation (2007).
He is a graduate of the second stream of the program for the development of the personnel management reserve in the field of science, technology and higher education (operational level), implemented on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation.
She was awarded the medal of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, II degree, and the departmental badge of distinction in work - a Certificate of Honor from the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation for her great contribution to the development of science and higher education, the training of qualified specialists and many years of diligent work.
He also holds the badge of distinction of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation "Veteran" of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
