Employees of the North Caucasus Federal University became guests of the program "We are talking today" on Radio Russia Stavropol. On the air, experts spoke about the "Week of Geology", dedicated to the Day of the Geologist, which is celebrated annually on the first Sunday of April.

Alexander Verisokin, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Dean of the NCFU Faculty of Petroleum Engineering, and Olga Zelivyanskaya, Associate Professor of the Department of Petroleum Geophysics, Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs of the NCFU Faculty of Petroleum Engineering, performed in the studio.

During the program, the guests talked about the fund and the history of the geological museum, which preserves more than three thousand samples of minerals, rocks, ores and paleontological finds collected in different regions of Russia and neighboring countries. The museum has become an important platform for learning, popularization of science and open excursions for schoolchildren and guests of Stavropol.

Special attention was paid on the air to the educational and career opportunities offered by the direction.

– As part of the Week of Geology, NCFU hosts intellectual games such as "Geoquiz", "Geologika", the battle of presentations "Why am I a geophysicist?" and the quest "Geological Prospector". Such formats make it possible to introduce participants to the scientific and practical side of the profession in a fascinating way," shared Alexander Verisokin.

The broadcast also focused on the laboratory base of the faculty and field practices that students undergo after the first year. It is here that future geologists gain their first experience in the study of rocks, minerals and geophysical data, and then learn how to interpret the results and apply them in real professional activities.

It should be noted that the NCFU geology week once again showed that the profession of a geologist remains one of the most interesting, in-demand and technologically advanced, and the university creates all conditions for students so that they can not only study, but also confidently build a career.
