NCFU World Language School Expands Russia-China Projects

NCFU’s Language School is promoting actively the Russian Language among Chinese students, while their Russian counterparts study Chinese.
In May, 2022 on, NCFU launched a Global Language School, which is an extremely important platform in view of expanding international cooperation, whereas Chinese is rated there as one of the most popular languages. Statistically, 1 out of every 5 persons in the world speaks Chinese, while the country in question is a huge element within the global economy.
– Our University has unique resources to teach both Russian as a foreign language, and foreign languages. The great command of foreign languages allows our staff and students be ready to join any academic mobility project, while the University itself can boast of over 100 foreign partners, – Dmitry Bespalov (Rector, NCFU) was quoted as saying.
The languages studied currently at the school include English, Spanish, German, Turkish, Arabic, while Chinese is gaining momentum.

– Our University is extremely attentive when it comes to youngsters’ demands, so in February, 2023, NCFU launched an extracurricular training program focusing on Chinese, – Liana Vartanova (Associate Professor, Dept for Translation, NCFU; Director, NCFU World Language School) noted.
The training period within the program is 18 months, following which those who compete successfully will be awarded their respective certificates. One of the specific perks the trainees will enjoy is that part of the training is delivered by a native speaker who is a 2nd year postgraduate student majoring in Language & Literature Studies.
Other activities include promotion of the Russian Language and culture abroad, namely in the countries of Asia, South Caucasus and Middle East, as well as running a Marusya Russian-Speaking club welcoming every foreign student interested in expending their respective communication skills thus helping them plunge into the new culture and enjoy it to the fullest.
