The Russian city of Sochi is hosting the International Contest in Financial Security, with 500 participants advancing to the finals, including students of the NCFU.

The contest is held under an initiative from the Federal Service for Financial Monitoring in order to create a single academic space within the CIS. This event has brought together students not from Russia alone yet also from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.

– The world nowadays has become rather unsafe and unpredictable, so the issue of financial intelligence, security, countering money laundry and funding terrorism is among the top relevant ones. Of course, only true professionals must be employed in the area. I believe this is what the winners of this event will come to be finally, – Dmitry Afanasiev (Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education) noted in his welcome address.

The participants, 11 of the representing the NCFU, compete in various fields of financial security and monitoring, and the best ones will be awarded their prizes in Economics, Finance & Credit, Economic Security, Information Security, and International Relations. The contest itself is far from a piece of cake – case studies, strategic games, and even independent projects – all these are to reveal the players’ skills in logical thinking, co prehension, analytical thinking and argumentation.

Now, as the final round is round the corner, the participants are to undergo a week’s intensive course after which they will have to write a final test, which will help identify the winners, who will be granted free admission to the partner-universities of the project.
