Arseny Glotov (Master’s student; Applied Mathematics & Computer Science, NCFU) has won a prize at the AI international contest, where he offered his idea on how to predict potential lung fibrosis – the major factor behind deaths from COVID-19.

The contest was held online on the largest AI contest platform, where the participants had to lock horns working on serious tasks. They were given chest CT scans showing lung fibrosis, and asked to find a solution that would help predict the disease.

There were over 2,000 teams from all over the world competing, one of them being Arseny.

– I started working on it right away, – Arseny told us. – I am one of the developers of computed vision systems, so the contest offered me a perfect chance to apply my skills. Of course, I had to learn much about fibrosis and reading the scans, after which I set to it, working for three months, day after day, actually.

As the outcomes show, Arseny’s solution was rated 86th, leaving behind many contestants from Europe, Asia and America, which earned him silver (gold went to the best 14 winners).

Congratulations!
