A summit held in the City of Derbent (Dagestan, Russia) focused on tourism sustainable development of the North Caucasus, with an agreement signed between the NCFU, the North-Caucasus Federal Districts and the Republic of Adygea.
The event brought together members of the Federal Parliament, Ministry of Economic Development, Russian Tourism Agency, etc., including experts in the hotel and hospitality business.
When addressing the audience with the opening speech, Nicolay Valuev (Deputy Chair of Russian Parliament for Tourism) noted that the meeting was supposed to develop certain criteria for tourism evaluation in the North Caucasus.
– I believe that such criteria, once developed here, could be applied to many other areas of our country, – Mr. Valuev was quoted as saying.
Murad Kaziev (Deputy Chair of the Dagestan Government) noted that the Republic features positive growth dynamics in tourism, with a lot to offer – from beautiful natural resources to cuisine and locals’ hospitality, which makes it a promising area that can share a lot.
Dmitry Bespalov (Rector, NCFU), in turn, said that given the new economic and geopolitical reality there must be a clear understanding of further progress – from training those to be employed in tourism to planning new tourist infrastructure.
– Nowadays the issues of staff supply for the tourism and hospitality spheres are largely related to the level of pay, living standards and a number of other factors, and without solving these issues we cannot ensure stable supply of employees and, respectively, economic sustainability in the region’s tourism development, – Mr. Bespalov added.
