Dmitry Bespalov (Rector, NCFU) had a visit to Syria meeting Prof. Abdul Basit Al Khatib (President, Al-Baath University) to discuss various issues, both academic and research.

Al-Baath University is an institution with over 120,000 students and a place that has great experience in training those to be further employed in areas like oil and gas, food industry and even construction. NCFU, in turn, can boast of its own skills in the same areas, which means the two places will have a lot to apply their joint effort to.

– Our partnership with Al-Baath University and Al-Hawash University will promote establishing research teams involved in developing advanced technologies, thus contributing to our two countries’ prosperity, – Dmitry Bespalov noted.

While holding a meeting with Dr. Hala Deeb (President, Al-Hawash University), Mr. Bespalov discussed training offered to students majoring in Medicine, because this is where the Syrian university is experienced enough to show its advances and facilities – surgery in-patient unit; rehabilitation department; center for cancer patients; maternity hospital and even a beauty ward.

The cooperation with the Syrian institutions is part of the Caspian-East Consortium activity, which involves nine countries, and which is aimed at better academic interdisciplinary progress, education and technology transfer.
