A group of researchers representing NCFU have developed an innovation-based substance that opens wide perspectives to create drugs for diseases like cancer, diabetes and malaria.
– Progress in pharmaceutical and medical areas depends largely on research, and the members of the School of Chemistry of NCFU have been involved for more than a few years in creating compounds that are highly effective for the treatment of diseases like, for instance, cancer, – Dmitry Bespalov (Rector, NCFU) was quoted as saying.
The core of the development includes indoles – an extremely important class of organic molecules employed to produce numerous drugs including those to treat cancer, diabetes and malaria.

The basic elements used currently to create biologically active substances are 3-aminoindoles, yet the production process is still too expensive, while the newly developed method relies on affordable substances, thus bringing the production cost down.
The experts are now trying to synthesize new promising compounds thus seeking more effective ways to support national medicine, at the same time composing an extensive library of compounds to carry out further studies.
The research outcomes have been published in the Molecules Journal.
