NCFU Researchers Develop Automated Greenhouse
NCFU researchers are currently working on developing a so-called smart greenhouse, where most of the operations will be performed by robots.
– We are focusing specifically on tomatoes since the Stavropol Region is among Russia’s leaders in this field of agricultural production, – Vladimir Antonov (Associate Professor, Dept for Applied Mathematics and Computer Security) was quoted as saying. – The technology could be adjusted to any other vegetable culture.
The greenhouse is to be equipped with several types of robots, each of them responsible for a particular area and operation. Besides, the robots will “seek” each other’s assistance in case they fail to perform by themselves.
The research is carried out within several grants including a grant for the Development of an intelligent control system for a robotic platform for automatic collection of greenhouse crops to reduce the production cost (U.M.N.I.K. contest).
