NCFU held a plenary session of the Geographic Issues of Countries and Regions international conference. This is not the first event arranged by the experts of NCFU (Institute of Earth Sciences) and their colleagues from Samarkand State University (Uzbekistan) and held in a mixed format (off- and online).

The range of the issues discussed was diverse – from urbanization and mapping to adjustment of students coming from other countries, and this all stirred lots of interest.
– Our university has been cooperating with the Samarkand State University for more than a few years now, and we are also running a joint Master’s degree program in Geography. Apart from that, we have a joint research lab focusing on ethnic and demographic issues involving the Caucasus and Central Asia, – Alexander Veriskoin (Acting Director, Institute of Earth Sciences, NCFU) noted.
Experts from Uzbekistan, in turn, shared certain data of interest, thus offering newer ways for joint research.
