NCFU Develops New Foods

As part of the Nauka 0+ Russian National Science Festival, the NCFU held a taste-show of unique products developed by its students. Here the visitors could not just taste and enjoy the foods yet also learn more about the effect on health.

– Most of the products you see here can be found in stores in the Stavropol Region as well as in the Chechen Republic and Dagestan, - Natalia Oboturova (Dean, Faculty of Food Engineering and Biotechnology) was quoted as saying. – Some of our developments have yet to arrive at the industrial production stage, but they have already stirred lot of interest among our industrial partners, to finally win their due place in the market. I would also like to note that many of our advanced products have been developed within projects under grants from the President of Russia, the Russian Research Foundation, and have already won high prizes at various international and national competitions.

Here the visitors could witness a perfect example of what can be done through joining efforts from researchers and the business community – products that have no match among foreign counterparts, such as pharmacopeia and food lactose.

Other products – both yummy and healthy – included stuff like ice-cream, yogurts, cheeses and even meat products.

And for those who wanted more, students had a special set of dessert treats – from lollipops and candy drops to a five-level cake, which, apart from being sweet contained lots of valuable nutrients that would never hurt the human body helping people stay healthy and happy at the same time.
