Category: Main

NCFU has launched a cyber field – a lab where students can come and master skills in investigating and preventing IT crimes.

IT safety issues have become especially urgent since 2022, specifically in the area of personal data leak, with Russia alone suffering from 665 mln entries leaked, which is above the country’s population.

– Our lab is an innovative one. This is so-called cyber field for IT experts. Here we can do all types of computer investigation, while students also learn how to resist cyber-attacks, deal with real cases and even learn how to recognize the authenticity of voice and papers, Maksim Ogur (Head of dept for Computer Safety) was quoted as saying.

The main threats in the IT sphere now include mostly malicious software, phishing, DDoS attacks, denial of service attacks, cyber-attacks aimed at hijacking data from large enterprises or public organizations, internal threats provoked by employees, contractors or customers, and much more., which explains the demand enjoyed by respective IT experts.

– Th need for such specialists is extremely high nowadays especially in law enforcement. Each day dozens of cyber-crimes are registered in the region, and the damage is in the millions, so we would be happy to see these well-trained professionals in our units, – Andrey Tolstov (Head of Dept for Investigation for Stavropol Region) noted.

Currently, NCFU is offering training to 1200 students, including both those majoring in IT and those who pursue other degrees.
