Nanomedicine: NCFU experts develop method for creating biometal nanoscale silicates

06.12.23 9:49

Category: Main

NCFU scientists have developed a method for creating nanoscale silicates of biometals, while getting them stabilized with L-lysine essential amino acid.

– Our scientists carry out numerous comprehensive research projects, including the area to which this one belongs. The newly patented technology opens new horizons and may be employed in most diverse areas, such as medicine, construction engineering, food technology and even luminophores, – Dmitry Bespalov (Rector, NCFU) was quoted as saying.

The new method was developed by experts of the Department for Physics and Technology of Nanostructures & Materials (NCFU), and the obtained product features some unique properties that make it durable for a long time.

Nanosize silicates of biometals can be used to produce bioactive substances, as well as in implantology and even to manufacture luminophores used in construction and beyond.

This wide use means that there is a demand for large production yet the currently available methods are time- and energy-consuming, which is not the case with the new method.

Now the researchers are trying to detect any toxic effects that nanosize silicates may work on the human body and see how they are compatible with it.

The development has already stirred interest among dentists and specialists in regenerative medicine. Great job, folks! Good Luck with further endeavors!
