An applicant from the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, located in West Africa, successfully defended his thesis at the North Caucasus Federal University. Yeo Nannein will now receive a PhD in Economics.
The candidate for the degree of Candidate of Economic Sciences specially flew to Stavropol from Africa to present his scientific work on the topic "Mechanisms of innovative and inclusive development of the national economic system based on a platform approach (using the example of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire)". The dissertation defense was chaired by Lev Ushvitsky, Doctor of Economics, Director of the NCFU Institute of Economics and Management. And the work carried out was not only a personal achievement of the researcher, but also an important step in expanding educational and scientific cooperation between Russia and African countries.

– All this clearly demonstrates our country's long-term commitment to training highly qualified personnel for African partners. And the chosen research topic is of practical importance, since today our country actively promotes the strengthening of the integrated sovereignty of African states," said Tatiana Kulagovskaya, PhD in Economics, Head of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Industry at NCFU.
Yeo Nannein received an economics degree both in his country and in Russia. In 2008, he graduated from the Finance Academy under the Government of the Russian Federation in Moscow with a degree in Finance and Credit, and in 2017 he completed postgraduate studies at Kalmyk State University. Now he has successfully defended his dissertation research at the North Caucasus Federal University.

Russian non-primary exports to Côte d'Ivoire are showing multiple growth, which underscores the need to develop systemic mechanisms to deepen trade and economic ties. That's why the research is relevant, and the applicant has not only proved himself to be an experienced researcher, but also as a person who has proposed real solutions for the future of his country.
And for Stavropol University, this is not just a single episode, but a systematic work, since NCFU regularly hosts meetings with delegations from African countries, as well as joint training programs. For example, in June 2026, the NCFU Africa Day 2026 was organized for international students at the university.
