The North Caucasus Federal University has organized the annual All-Russian educational campaign "Geography Night" in Stavropol. The venue for the event was the museum and exhibition complex "Russia – my History".
Geography Night is a project of the Russian Geographical Society aimed at popularizing geographical knowledge and drawing attention to the natural and ethnographic heritage of the country. NCFU has been organizing the campaign in the city for several years in a row, annually expanding the program.

This year, three thematic zones with different participation formats were waiting for the guests. Students and teachers of the Faculty of International Relations conducted a quest "Geographical Adventures", and the NCFU Wellness Center organized board geography games. It was possible to collect puzzles, study minerals and rocks, and solve paleontological riddles on the playgrounds. Linguistic workshops in Chinese and Arabic were held, as well as a geographical "Own game". Students of the field of Cartography and Geoinformatics presented a digital gallery of maps and the results of course research.
The university's partners also took part in the campaign. The Ecological and Biological Center launched the Natural Zones of the Russian Federation station, the Russian Geographical Society Youth Center offered VR trips around the North Caucasus, and the North Caucasus Urban Planning Center brought modern geodetic equipment. The tourist Information Center of Stavropol and the children's center "Eaglet" held author's workshops.

– We tried to make each zone work as an independent story, but in the end everything developed into a common geographical picture. Special thanks to the new participants – "Eaglet" and the tourist information center. Their master classes and dances greatly decorated the program. As we have seen once again, geography is not only about maps and scales, but also about people, traditions, and communication," said Maria Peshkova, coordinator of the event, Senior lecturer at the NCFU Department of Geography and Geoinformatics.
The program ended with the presentation of the Tourist Information Center "Stavropol region: open an impression" as part of the lecture block "Geography and the World".
– This year, many partners have joined us – both specialized organizations and children's centers. It's nice to see that geography is interesting for both schoolchildren and adults. Thanks to our students and teachers – they made this evening truly memorable," said Oksana Shibkova, Acting Dean of the NCFU Faculty of International Relations.
"Geography Night 2026" brought together schoolchildren, students, teachers and everyone who is interested in the geography of Russia.
