A round table dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the first human spaceflight was held at the North Caucasus Federal University. The event was organized jointly with the regional branch of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and brought together scientists and public figures of the region to discuss the achievements of Russian cosmonautics and the prospects for the development of the industry.
During the work, the participants reviewed the key milestones of space exploration. The report on the Korolev Team, which brought together pilots, engineers, scientists and workers to solve previously impossible tasks, was met with particular interest. In parallel with the historical context, the participants touched upon issues of modern atmospheric research and the development of space technologies.

The highlight of the meeting was a speech by Svetlana Orekhova, a physics engineer at the NCFU Faculty of Physics and Technology, dedicated to the work of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe Scientific School of Astronomy. The project has become an important tool for popularizing science among young people. Through lectures by scientists and work at the NCFU planetarium, schoolchildren and students are involved in the world of astrophysics.
The organizing Committee, which included Sergey Kalashnikov, Deputy Head of the Propaganda Department of the Stavropol Regional Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, Vadim Fustochenko, First Secretary of the Stavropol Regional Committee of the Komsomol of the Russian Federation, and Lyudmila Aliyeva, Director of the NCFU Science Department, noted the high importance of such meetings to strengthen the link between science, politics and society.
