International Volunteer Day Word from NCFU Rector
On December 5 we are celebrating the International Volunteer Day, which was approved under a special decree by President Vladimir Putin. And many NCFU students well deserve to be praised on this day as they are always among those to offer a helping hand to anyone in need.
Up to 1,500 NCFU students join various volunteer events on an annual basis, with seven volunteer teams functioning at NCFU. These people visit orphanages, senior homes and hospitals, as well as help veterans, the disabled and young patients with cancer. Our volunteers have been involved in more than a few campaigns such as collecting waste paper for recycling or helping animal shelters. No major event – both national and international in our region – is left without support from NCFU students, especially given this year of 2020, which has proven tough indeed for all of us. And on this day, here comes a word from Dmitry Bespalov, NCFU Rector.
Our youngsters have been known for their pro-active stance and desire to help people around, the region, and the nation. Whenever they have free time, they follow their inner drive to offer support to those who ended up in trouble, take care of the environment, and launch initiatives that do matter for the society. What you have been doing through these tough times is more than just an act of bravery – you are delivering medicines and food to the elderly, helping people master digital technologies delivering them special classes online, and even teaching them foreign languages. Volunteers are always where people need help most. You have made a great contribution in holding the youth forum Mashuk and joined the Volunteers of Constitution national campaign. Your constructive deeds have made you role models for all those seeking to be kind, selfless and useful.
I am happy to wish you a lot of energy and optimism through all you do for the best of our people!
Happy Volunteer Day!
Dmitry Bespalov
