International students of the North Caucasus Federal University listened to the lecture "Critical thinking tools for detecting false news", dedicated to fakes and deepfakes, from the All-Russian society "Znanie".

The lecture "Critical Thinking tools for detecting false news" was given by Alexander Zolotorev, lecturer of the All-Russian Znanie Society, Candidate of Economics, Associate Professor of the Department of Media Communications at the Higher School of Creative Industries, and the event itself was held at the University's Technopark.

– The students really enjoyed the presentation of relevant material for today's turbulent times. The lecturer spoke while looking into the eyes. It was obvious that he was into the subject and literally lives journalism. As the chairman of a foreign fraternity, I would like to point out that he thus kept the audience's attention throughout the lecture. Such an informal presentation is very accessible to us, foreign students," said Hekim Annadurdyev, Acting Chairman of the NCFU Union of Foreign Students.

Students from Syria, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan appreciated the information presentation algorithm, as well as its close connection with daily information calls from the Internet.

Alexander Zolotorev urged to check the information, not to react immediately to negative news and in no case to forward them to friends, to learn to look for the original source. Also, together with the students, the lecturer discussed the challenges of our time and the right response to them, focusing on deepfakes. He explained and shared real-life examples.
