Innovation-based food development was a special task faced by all those who joined the National Food Technology Contest held at NCFU.
The task itself was no easy one – to develop a new food that could be labelled as Food of the Future and, of course, feature some innovation-based ingredients. Besides, innovation here meant not the ingredients only yet the technological process, too.
– This contest allowed the participants learn a lot in many areas – nutrition, biotechnology, architecture, quality assurance and safety of food. And another -–the event was held offline, which means the contestants could act as a team, face-to-face, and this is what helped them solve the tasks successfully, indeed. Being Smart is Fashionable – this is the motto we follow in our faculty, and this is the message we have delivered to everyone around today, – Natalia Oboturova (Dean, Faculty of Food Engineering and Biotechnology; Head of Dept for Food Technology and Engineering) noted.

The final product presented to the Jury was a yoghurt, a meatball, sugar-free cookies, a liver-based pâté and much more (just save your mouth so it does not water too much).
– What we have here is foods designed to help people at risk of developing Type I diabetes, – Vladimir Butyrev (contestant) was quoted as saying.
And the contestants were not alone through the entire event – their tutors and teachers followed them always to offer their strong helping hands, and the result is more than good.
And now, the final announcement: the winner is… (Hear the drums?) the team of Novosibirsk (Russia) who prepared the best stuffed paprika recipe to enjoy. Congratulations, folks! Great job!
