January 23, 2023, NCFU held the Digital Shield for North Caucasus round-table discussion with numerous people involved in the media attending the event.

As Alexander Malkevich (Journalist, Head of Center for Counteracting digital threats, NCFU) noted, there are 25 types of digital issues identified as threats to the civil society.

Another issue on the agenda was the fakes in publics all over the North Caucasus – over 85,000 fakes detected in 2022.

Given the issues above, the leading experts of NCFU’s respective departments, along with external specialists decided to discuss ways to counteract the digital and informational threats. Life shows, they agreed, that quality informational support is vital to conduct public policies and protect the country best interest abroad, which, in turn, implies having qualified staff to see what is to be identified as a threat or a fake.

Besides, Alexander Malkevich held a project session with students, where journalists-to-be discussed Russia under Informational War.

NCFU is currently running the first Center for Counteracting digital threats, where experts monitor and analyze digital issues and develop methodologies to detect and eliminate fakes.
