Scientists of the North Caucasus Federal University were among the laureates of the 2025 Government of the Russian Federation Prize in Science and Technology, confirming the high level of the university's scientific schools.

The author's team, which was awarded a high state award, included Alexander Krivoruchko, Doctor of Biological Sciences, NCFU employee, Chief Researcher at the Research Laboratory of Molecular Genetic Expertise of the North Caucasus Federal Scientific Agrarian Center, and Doctor of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor, Chief Researcher at the laboratory of the Department, Professor at the Basic Department of Genetics and Breeding of the Biomedical Larisa Skorykh, NCFU Faculty.

The research team was noted for their work to increase beef production using the Russian gene pool of meat breeds based on an integrated system of breeding and genetic methods. The developments have already found practical application in the agro-industrial complex.

The award ceremony of the Government of the Russian Federation took place with the participation of the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin. In his speech, he stressed that the country needs practically oriented scientific solutions created on the domestic scientific basis and demanded by the economy and society, and the awarded works are characterized by high practical significance and tangible economic effect.

The Russian Government's prizes in the field of science and technology, including for young scientists, are awarded annually for outstanding achievements in research, the creation of fundamentally new technologies and the introduction of innovations in industry, agriculture, ecology and other sectors of the real economy.
