Drivers of innovation: rectors of universities of the North Caucasus discussed joint projects

Rector of the North Caucasus Federal University (NCFU) Professor Tatiana Shebzukhova visited Karachay-Cherkessia on a working trip. The main purpose of the visit is to discuss joint projects and unite the scientific potential of universities within the framework of the Consortium of Universities of the North Caucasus.
– The main task is to consolidate the efforts of regional universities in priority areas within the perimeter of our federal district. Each university has unique resources. Auditing the instrument base and comparing it with the actual competencies of scientists will allow us to understand the potential opportunities, gaps and bottlenecks. We want to strengthen our common positions in order to take on larger-scale tasks in the interests of the country and the macroregion. The consortium has the potential to become a collection point for innovations of each individual entity," commented NCFU Rector Professor Tatiana Shebzukhova.

On June 29, 2026, a meeting was held in Cherkessk with the rector of the North Caucasus State Academy, Ruslan Kochkarov. The heads of universities discussed the issues of ensuring the educational process, the profiles of the academy's research centers and laboratories, as well as the work of its structural units, including the military training center. The Academy implements 68 educational programs of higher and secondary vocational education.
– Combining the intellectual potential of our universities will allow us to create in-demand scientific developments that meet the needs of the economy and social sphere of the macroregion. Together with Tatiana Alexandrovna, they visited the Military Training Center named after Hero of Russia Kanamat Botashev. Students, graduates and staff of the academy who died during a special military operation were honored by laying flowers at the memorial. We also exchanged experiences on the development of unmanned aircraft systems and discussed the possibilities of cooperation in this promising area, which today is becoming one of the most important for the technological development of the country," said Ruslan Kochkarov, Rector of the North Caucasus State Academy.
In Karachayevsk, NCFU Rector Professor Tatiana Shebzukhova held a working meeting with Acting Rector of U.D. Aliyev Karachay-Cherkess State University Umar Uzdenov. The multidisciplinary KCHSU covers a wide range of areas: from culture, philology and pedagogy to natural sciences, economics and physical education. The NCFU Rector got acquainted with the university's infrastructure and during the meeting discussed the potential for integrating shared use centers within the framework of the Consortium.

– We welcome not only a colleague and the head of the federal university, but also a graduate of our university. Tatiana Alexandrovna is a graduate of the Historical Faculty of KCHSU," said Acting Rector of KCHSU Umar Uzdenov. – I am confident that the agreements reached at this meeting will create the basis for the implementation of new joint projects that will contribute to the development of human resources and the scientific and educational environment of both the Karachay-Cherkess Republic and the entire North Caucasus region.
Following the visit, the heads of the universities outlined concrete steps to consolidate efforts within the framework of the Consortium and strengthen the contribution of academic science to the economic development of the North Caucasus Federal District.
For reference: The association of 21 universities of the North Caucasus Federal District in the Consortium format is designed to form a unified scientific, educational and expert community to address the challenges of developing the macroregion in the context of national goals.
So, in 2026, the NCFU hosted a two-day regional School of the Russian Science Foundation (RNF), as well as the V Design and Analytical Session dedicated to the formation of strategies for the development of NCFD universities in the context of bioeconomics, digital transformation and the introduction of AI technologies, as well as the development of the creative economy and tourism.
