The North Caucasus Federal University in Stavropol became the starting point of the educational journey "Big Thach: through the layers of time", organized for student travel clubs in Russia.

The event "Big Thatch: through the Layers of Time" covered 10 regions, including Yaroslavl, Vladivostok, Rostov, Voronezh, St. Petersburg and Moscow. 20 people came to Stavropol, which became the first point of a big trip – these are the participants of student tourist clubs. The event itself is organized by the Association for the Development of Youth Active Tourism (ARMAT) in cooperation with NCFU with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, and the Studtourism program is a partner of the project.

On the first day, the participants got acquainted with the infrastructure of the North Caucasus Federal University, visited the fair of student associations, and also became part of the march by participating in the "Knowledge Day with ARMAT" campaign. After exploring the campus, the guests met with the NCFU Vice Rector for Youth Policy.

– For NCFU, as the flagship university of the Association for the Development of Youth Active Tourism, it is extremely valuable to recognize the relevance of such projects. This is evidenced by the wide geography of the participants, and most importantly, their desire to gain new knowledge during the campaign, which they will apply at their universities, because our main goal is to develop active student tourism throughout Russia, which is facilitated by both youth policy and the university's educational infrastructure," said Oksana NCFU Vice Rector for Youth Policy. Then the participants of the event met with Sergey Tuaev, the head of ARMAT, who told them about the plans for the trip, as well as about working with the Studtourism platform and that the "Best Student Club of Russia" competition was being prepared.

The hike itself will take place from September 2 to 5. The participants will travel along the mountain trails of Adygea: the route runs from the Princely Glades to the top of Bolshoy Thach. In the grottos and caves, guests will be introduced to the rarest minerals and sites of ancient Paleolithic man up to 2.6 million years old, and from the Thach Pass they will enjoy incredible panoramas of the Rocky Ridge of the Greater Caucasus and the very "crown" of the Great Thach. The participants will also explore the nature of the Caucasian Nature Reserve and meet rare plants.
