The Life Science Technology contest, which brought together six schooler teams and held at NCFU is over. Even though developed for school children, the contest was a serious one, with the tasks being more than challenging. Initially over 1000 applications were submitted with only 80 applicants admitted to the selection stage from all over the country, who came to put their best foot forward demonstrating their skills in areas like Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology and Food Chemistry. Following the selection, only 18 kids advanced to the finals, where they had to solve real problems developed by practicing experts of NCFU and various companies – from a dairy plant to bakeries and healthy food developers.

The contest itself took four days, through which the participants presented their advanced innovation-based foods for specific people in view of the respective person’s age, sex, and nutrition needs.

As for the Jury, then their job was equally challenging – tasting and evaluating everything – from the entire process of food development up until making conclusions concerning the newly developed taste, smell and even the texture and color of each product. And they did a great job indeed, finally awarding the top prize to the ZaNasIZaKavkaz team (Ksenia Gaevskaya, Krasnogorsk, Moscow Area, Russia; Darya Zykova and Polina Shilimanova, Novosibirsk, Russia) who presented a new technology for producing a unique type of pate based on rabbit meat with some additives enhancing the protein content.

Special prizes (For Will to Win) were awarded to Yulia Grischenko and Polina Kokorina (Moscow Area, Russia).

Well done, folks! Congratulations!
