NCFU has presented a special sliver-particles saturated gel developed to help doctors dealing with patients suffering from diabetic foot. This issue is one of the most common complications associated with diabetes and features poorly recovering wounds on the patient’s feet, which, if left untreated properly, may lead to amputation of the limb.
– The new method offered by our experts is an important step in healthcare progress. Notable is that this research can prevent complications as well as reduce the risk of worsening health in the patient. I am sure our development will find its practical use in medicine, – Dmitry Bespalov (Rector, NCFU) noted.
The unique gel has been developed by Denis Anenko (Senior Lecturer, Dept for Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Medicine Technology, NCFU) jointly with his colleagues from the Samara State University. Right now, the researchers are seeking ways to enhance the healing effect.
This year the developers have plans to patent the medicine, which has already won them an award at the UMNIK regional innovation contest.
