Nevinnomyssk Institute of Technology (branch of Federal State Autonomous Educational Institution for Higher Professional Education (FSAEI HPE) North-Caucasus Federal University) began its activity in 1965 as a study support center of Krasnodar Polytechnic Institute.

 

In 1969 the Stavropol branch of the Krasnodar Polytechnic Institute obtains status of the Stavropol Polytechnic Institute, and in 1973 it opened general technical faculty in Nevinnomyssk. In 1981 the general technical faculty was transformed into a branch of the Stavropol Polytechnic Institute, then in 1994 it was renamed into Nevinnomyssk branch of Stavropol State Technical University. In 1997 the branch obtained the status of an Institute, and in 1999 it was renamed into Nevinnomyssk Institute of Technology (branch of North-Caucasus State Technical University (NCSTU). The status of an Institute was a powerful impetus for further progress. In 2001 the Institute became multidisciplinary. In 2012 due to the establishment of the North-Caucasus Federal University the Institute became a branch of the North-Caucasus Federal University.


Our mission

Training of comprehensively complete, competitive and professionally competent specialists focused on the long-term needs of the Stavropol Region and of the North Caucasus Federal District, free-thinking citizens with high intelligence and culture, the necessary set of basic and professional competencies that have a high level of human and intellectual capital in the chemical-technological and energy fields, meeting the current demand of the society and capable of resolving the relevant issues of the North Caucasus District through the implementation of the basic and additional educational programs; the creation and implementation of new technological developments and solutions, and the provision of transfer of new technologies.

The Institute has a multi-level training structure. The training provides for two levels of education: Bachelor's degree with a standard term of 4 years; Master's program with a standard term of 2.5 years.

The quality of education today is largely determined by the four main components:

  • the level of qualifications of teachers;
  • the level of educational technologies used;
  • level of R&D and students’ research activities;
  • the level of potential opportunities for students.

The Institute employs 54 teachers, including 5 Doctors of Science, Professors; 32 Candidates of Sciences, Associate Professors; 12 teachers from among the current leaders and employees of respective companies. Four employees of the Institute have the title of Honored Worker of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation among other high titles and degrees.


Student body

As of September 1, 2016, the number of students is 574 people, of them by full-time – 186, by correspondence – 360 and part-time – 28. In 2013, training for Masters was launched. A large number of final papers are completed on the premises of enterprises, with newer technical solutions developed are registered in accordance with the respectively established procedure for protection.

Research and innovation

The research activity of the Institute is aimed at solving urgent problems of the priority sectors of the region’s social and economic development, ensuring the safety of life and food security in Russia. It is carried out within the priority areas of science, technology and development in the Russian Federation – Information and telecommunication systems; Rational nature management; Energy efficiency, energy saving, nuclear power.

In 2015-2016, 56 scientific and research works (R&D) were completed including 6 research projects under contracts with business entities, 45 research projects under contracts with individuals, 5 research projects under the UMNIK program.

The most significant fundamental research projects are

  • Investigation of the kinetics of N2O decomposition
  • Theoretical basis for the construction of intelligent ACS with the use of modified nonlinear, neural network and modular regulators
  • Research on the grant of the President of the Russian Federation Theoretical bases of construction of modular PID-regulators;
  • Two RFBR grants for the publishing project on the topic Publication of the book THE USE OF ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORKS AND THE RESIDUAL CLASS SYSTEM IN CRYPTOGRAPHY

From 2013 to 2015 Teachers of the Institute received: Russian patents – 18, certificates of official registration of computer programs – 31. Most of the research lies within technical sciences (80.6%).

 


Research by students

Research in the Institute is carried out at the departments, as well as in the scientific divisions of the Institute. The Institute annually a scientific works contest for students where the winners are awarded diplomas and certificates.

To develop the material and technical base of scientific research and the scientific infrastructure of the Institute, expensive scientific equipment was purchased for the laboratories and departments of the Institute in view of the technical and technological specifics of the NCFD, Russian and international markets, and performing research in the following areas:

Development of production technologies for new grades of mineral fertilizers

Research and creation of a recipe for the production of modern organic products, including polymer materials

Development of methods, devices and systems for technical support and equipment modernization.


International activity

Integration into the international scientific and educational space is done through the establishment of partnership relations with the Abkhaz State University and the Belarusian State Technological University, which carry out activities in similar areas of training. This cooperation implies

  • entering cooperation agreements
  • inviting foreign teachers and researchers from the partner-universities to deliver lectures to students
  • improving the competence & qualifications of the teaching staff
  • involvement in joint projects aimed at creation of modern production technologies and analytical control of the technological mode for obtaining mineral fertilizers

In the academic year 2016-2017, 16 foreign students from the CIS countries entered the Institute.


Educational activity

The high quality of the student body is determined by the diversity of social competencies (Russian civil identity, patriotism, legal culture, the culture of interethnic and interfaith interaction, the culture of a safe and healthy way of life, etc.) instilled in the students not only by involving them in appropriate educational activities yet also in the course of the learning process within the framework of mastering the disciplines of choice.

Of the student creative groups, we can mention the dance group DanceLife, the vocals studio, the photo studio, the editorial board of the newspaper, the student volunteer team GOOD MOOD, etc.

In the 2015-2016 academic year, student government bodies conducted a number of student events, including Adaptation Course for Freshmen, The Student Day, St. Valentine's Day, Carnival, New Year’s congratulations for the children of teachers and students, discos and other events.

The institute has developed internal regulations, rights and duties for students, which establish the status of legal culture. During the educational process and student hours, students study the rights, freedoms and duties that are enshrined in the Constitution of the Russian Federation, other legal documents, and also consider models of lawful behavior subject to which young people must deliver their actions. Students take an active part in city and regional legal and environmental actions as well as in various patriotic events every year.

There are 6 sports sections functioning – volleyball, basketball, general physical training, football, tennis, fitness. The number of students engaged in sports sections, clubs in 2015-2016 academic year – 85.

The enterprise's products are widely used in the main agricultural regions of Russia. Most of the products of the nitrogen group are traditionally exported to more than 35 countries, including the USA, China, Canada, India, Israel, Italy, and the United Kingdom. At JSC Nevinnomyssky Azot employs more than 7,500 people, the company is a city-forming enterprise for the city of Nevinnomyssk;
  • JSC Novomoskovskiy Azot (Novomoskovsk, Tula region) is one of the largest chemical companies in Russia, producing every ninth ton of domestic ammonia and nitrogen fertilizers; part of the mineral and chemical company EuroChem;
  • The Balakovo branch of JSC Apatit of the holding company CJSC PhosAgroAg (Balakovo, Saratov region) is one of the largest producers of phosphate fertilizer phosphate in Europe; the only producer of feed monocalcium phosphate in Russia; The first Russian enterprise certified according to the European quality control standard for feed materials GMP +;
  • Redkinsky Catalytic Plant CJSC (Redkino, Tver Oblast) is the oldest enterprise in the Russian Federation for the production of precious metal catalysts for producers of petrochemicals and organic synthesis, in the nitrogen industry and metallurgy, nuclear power plants and systems Protection of the environment;

  • Monitoring LLC, St. Petersburg, is one of the leading companies engaged in a range of work on instrument, methodological and metrological support of analytical measurement technologies in various fields of science and production.

Our major objectives

Creation of an effective structural unit of the North Caucasus Federal University integrated into the socio-economic space of the largest industrial center of the North Caucasus Federal District – the city of Nevinnomyssk, which provides training to highly qualified personnel and establishes effective scientific research for the chemical-technological and energy fields;

Implementation of the Strategy for the socio-economic development of the North Caucasus Federal District until 2025 and the Strategy for the socio-economic development of the Stavropol Region until 2020 and for the period up to 2025 in terms of facilitating favorable conditions for the development of priority sectors of the social and economic system of the Stavropol Region and the North Caucasus, including the chemical industry, engineering and electricity, as well as extracting and processing sectors of industry.
