It was the first time that NCFU hosted the qualifying stage of the International CASE-IN Engineering Contest (Oil & Gas area), where 19 teams locked horns fighting for the finals. The event was held online.
The CASE-IN contest is an international event focusing on solving engineering cases, which is done in order to attract young promising experts into areas like fuel and mineral production.
While competing this time, the students had not only to offer some creative solutions on oil or gas production, yet also evaluate environmental, economic and even social effects of their own potential activities. After that the solutions were presented to the Jury, who announced their decision based on numerous feasibility factors. Now, as the Jury decided there were two NCFU teams that earned their right to advance to the semi-finals.
– This was the first time our University served as a platform for the oil & gas stage of this contest, – Alexander Verisokin (Senior Lecturer, Department of Oil and Gas Field Development) was quoted as saying. – We never expected so many teams to join the event – it was obvious that students took sincere interest in the cases. And we are happy to see our people develop some really non-conventional and economically reliable solutions. Our teams stand every chance to win now, I am sure.
The semi-finals will be held online in eight areas of Russia, following which the best teams will come to compete for the top prize at the finals to be held in Moscow, while the winners, apart from traditional awards, will be offered field placement in the best companies and potential employment.
