The North-Caucasus Federal University hosted StavIT // Digit in the Region – a round-table discussion focusing on digitization of various areas of economy in the region, including small-, mid-scale business and even IT-companies. In his speech, Vladimir Vladimirov (Governor, Stavropol Region) noted that IT-technologies applied to solving socio-economic issues offer a great advantage in promoting the national economy, including that of the region.
– In this region, we are introducing AI technologies, like those in urban management, for instance. The Stavropol region has every chance to become a true IT center of the country – we have everything here: goals, academic institutions, independent IT developments, and most importantly, talented young specialists with a great future, – Mr. Vladimirov was quoted as saying.
Dmitry Bespalov (Rector, NCFU), in turn, talked about the training offered to IT-experts at the NCFU.
– Our university has twenty fields of training that belong to the IT industry, which include 33 degree programs. The last few years, areas like Software Engineering, Computer Systems and Technologies, Information Security have enjoyed specific interest among applicants. Students and graduates of these areas find good employment both in large regional firms as well as in global industry IT giants – companies like Yandex, Samsung, Google for example, – he stressed.
Based on the outcomes of the discussion, the participants decided to establish a working group in charge of promoting IT-technologies in the region.
