Academic Mobility – Priceless Experience
This time we are taking a dream-flight to Paris, France, together with Valery Asratyan (student, Institute of Engineering, NCFU) who underwent a semester of training there subject to the GE-4 scholarship program.
Valery joined to academic exchange program to receive training at the Institut Superior d’Électronique de Paris.
– That time in France gave me the real-life experience I will never forget, – Valery was quoted as saying. – From the very first days I could see that the French education system is whole different from its Russian counterpart. You have no large groups or lots of subjects here. Instead, students have to choose 4-5 classes so as to score the required number of credit points through the semester. I studied analog electronics, electronic microsystems, network security, data analysis, and French, whereas the training was delivered in English.
Besides, Valery told that training for engineers in France focuses mainly on practical skills – all the facilities are equipped with all the machines required, while students do not only perform some tasks yet also run their own projects, which are often team-work.
However, Valery’s stay in France was not all about academic affairs yet making friends with the people he met starting from his first week in the new place. As soon as France lifted all the COVID-19 lock-down restrictions, Valery started travelling around, coming to know both the most beautiful areas of Paris and other cities, including Bordeaux, Arcachon, Nice, Cannes and even Monaco, which made his 6-month long trip truly unforgettable.
