NORTH-CAUCASUS FEDERAL UNIVERSITY (RUSSIA) AND UNIVERSITY OF PRIMORSKA (SLOVENIA) REACH AGREEMENT ON DEVELOPING TRAINING IN TOURISM

Date of material placement: 2-12-2019, 20:55.

A delegation of the NCFU is currently staying in Slovenia visiting a partner institution.

Dmitry Bespalov (Acting Rector, NCFU), Irina Solovieva (Pro-Rector for Academic Affairs, NCFU), and Andrey Bratsykhin (Director, Institute of Life Sciences, NCFU) paid a visit to the University of Primorska (Portorož, Slovenia) where they were taken around the FACULTY OF TOURISM STUDIES. Besides, they held a meeting held with Assoc. Prof. Janez Mekinc, PhD (Dean, FACULTY OF TOURISM STUDIES), Dr. Dejan Križaj (Assistant Dean, FACULTY OF TOURISM STUDIES), and Tatjana Mikelić Goja (Head of Department for Education, International Cooperation and Quality Assurance) focusing on cooperation in the area of academic mobility and research.

Namely, Dmitry Bespalov suggested launching a joint Master’s degree program offering training to those wishing to major in Tourism, while the training would be delivered in English.

The research cooperation would imply academic mobility aimed at student projects completed while on field placement. Another idea discussed was establishing a joint international Tourism research center. All the proposals were approved by the management of the University of Primorska, while the entire process is to be intensified – the respective contract and roadmaps are to be signed prior to December 31, 2019.

Apart from that, the two institutions agreed that the North-Caucasus Federal University would become one of the partners within the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility project (a respective contract will be signed before February 20, 2020 to coordinate the academic exchange involving both teaching staff and students).

Besides, the NCFU delegation visited Davorin Hostnik Russian-Slovenian Center, where potential cooperation was discussed.

Tomorrow’s visit is to be paid to University of Ljubljana.

The North-Caucasus Federal University started its cooperation with Slovenian partners in 2017 signing a Memorandum of Academic Cooperation with University of Ljubljana, and another agreement with University of Nova Gorica. Besides, 10 roadmaps were signed with University of Ljubljana embracing 6 areas – Tourism, Biotechnology, Power Engineering, Information Technologies, as well as Social Sciences and Humanities.
