Damascus University hosted the first day of the exhibition. The Russian universities had their presentations at the Rida Saad Conference Center. First of all, it was prospective applicants planning to study in Russia who attended the event.



As statistics offered by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation shows, every year the number of foreign students coming to study in Russia is growing, including trough more students coming from Syria.

This time 19 Russian universities are attending the event arranged by Rossotrudnichestvo agency for Russian cooperation, enjoying support from the Russian Embassy in Syria, the Syrian company Masarat, and from the Minister of Higher Education of the SAR. The NCFU representative is Lyudmila Alieva, head of the International Cooperation Department.



When delivering the opening speech, Mohammad Maher Kabakibi (Rector of Damascus University) stressed the importance of the event in terms of promoting humanitarian cooperation between our countries.


Vadim Zaichikov, in turn, (Head of the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo agency) noted that the exhibition is of great symbolic importance and is part of the 75th anniversary celebration since diplomatic relations were established between the Russian Federation and the Syrian Arab Republic.


Igor Polyachenko (Head of the Cooperation Department in the Field of Higher and Extra Education of Rossotrudnichestvo), who attended the exhibition, emphasized that the event, which had already become annual, was designed to help future Syrian applicants make their choice selecting the specialty and university when studying in our country, as well as get all the required information regarding their potential qualification for a special quota allowing studying at Russian universities.

On October 1, the exhibition will be held further at the Tishrin University in Latakia, to further move to Lebanon, where it will be held in the cities of Batrun, Beirut, Tire and Tripoli (October 2 to 5).
