The North Caucasus Federal University welcomed a delegation of teachers and students from the University of Oregon (USA) as part of the international student exchange project BRIDGES OF PREVENTION. The event was arranged by the NGO MOVEMENT OF VOLUNTEERS OF STAVROPOL and the Stavropol Regional Branch of the Russian Charitable Foundation NO TO ALCOHOLISM AND DRUG ADDICTION.

At the meeting, the participants discussed the history of establishing and developing the project BRIDGES OF PREVENTION. This project originated from the EQUAL-TO-EQUAL program launched between the US and Russia. The goal is to develop and implement effective strategies for the prevention of substance abuse among the youth and adolescents.

Coordinator of the Volunteers Movement of Stavropol, Valery Mitrofanenko (Associate Professor, Department of Social Technologies) noted that the NCFU had already had some experience of cooperation with the University of Oregon subject to an agreement signed in 2014. Now it has become clear that the agencies working with at-risk adolescents and young people in both countries can fruitfully share their technologies.

After the Summer School a collection of the best Russian and American practices and scientific articles by the participants will be published.
